The Histotechnology program prepares students to perform delicate procedures using tissue samples in the detection and treatment of disease. The histotechnologist is an integral member of the laboratory and healthcare team. Please be aware that only complete applications with transcripts and references will be processed.

The instructions below will help you submit a complete application. We suggest that you submit your online application, fee and all transcripts at the same time. There are five easy steps to apply:

Step 1 - Application

Submit your completed online application and the non-refundable $60 application fee.

Step 2 - College Transcripts

A minimum 2.5 cumulative college GPA and a minimum 2.5 math/science GPA are required. Submit official, unopened college transcripts from all post-secondary institutions attended.

Step 3 – Baccalaureate Degree

Submit electronic copy of transcript showing completion of a baccalaureate degree in biology, chemistry, or related science from an accredited institution. Minimum of 30 semester credit hours of biology and chemistry by date of application (must include credits in both). Baccalaureate degree and the required prerequisite courses of anatomy and physiology, microbiology, organic chemistry (or biochemistry), and college-level algebra or higher math must be completed by the start date.

Step 4 – Three Completed Carolinas College Reference Forms

Submit three, sealed references on the Carolinas College Reference forms from an instructor, employer or academic advisor.

Step - 5 Deadline

Applications are considered on an ongoing basis.  Decision notifications will go out within 4-6 weeks of receipt of the completed application and all supporting documentation, i.e. transcripts, reference forms, etc.

International Applicants (or those with foreign transcripts)

Applicants must be citizens of the United States or hold permanent resident status. Carolinas College of Health Sciences does not authorize student visas. Applicants with foreign transcripts are required to present an official transcript evaluation from one of the agencies listed below that includes all of the courses attempted, credit and grades earned.

Applicants who attended high school or college outside of the United States must submit a TOEFL score as part of the application packet by the application deadline. A score of 220 (computer version) or 83 (iBT: Internet Based) is required. Contact TOEFL (School code: 5130).
