Nitrous oxide (“laughing gas”)
If you’re receiving care that causes pain or anxiety, nitrous oxide (“laughing gas”) is available at our Morehead location. Commonly used in dental offices, nitrous oxide is a gas you breathe in that helps you feel calm and relaxed. It can be used during common women’s care procedures, such as:
- Pelvic exams
- Birth control insertions and removals, including intrauterine devices (IUD)
- Cervix exams after abnormal Pap smears
Nitrous oxide is safe even during pregnancy, and you control how much you get and for how long. The effects wear off quickly, and you can even drive yourself home afterward. Talk to your OB/GYN before or during your next visit to learn more.
