Exceptional care in motion. Using emerging technologies and progressive methods, Atrium Health physicians develop surgical and non-surgical treatment plans designed to restore shoulder and elbow function and range of motion.

We treat shoulder and elbow conditions due to:

  • Arthritis
  • Sports injury
  • Accident
  • Work-related injury
  • Congenital disorder

Shoulder

Consisting of two joints and three bones, the shoulder has the greatest range of motion of any part of the body and is very unstable – easily injured by impact or overuse.

Shoulder conditions include:

  • Rotator cuff tear
  • Shoulder arthritis
  • Shoulder impingement
  • Shoulder separation
  • SLAP tear (injury to the shoulder socket lining)
  • Traumatic shoulder instability

Elbow

The unique positioning and interaction of the three bones in the elbow joint allows for a small amount of rotation as well as hinge action.

Some of the most common injuries to the elbow include:

  • Bursitis
  • Forearm fracture
  • Osteoarthritis
  • Rupture of the distal biceps tendon
  • Tennis elbow
