From around-the-clock monitoring to virtual care, our experts offer exceptional care in our intensive care units (ICU) at Atrium Health hospitals throughout the Carolinas. The critical care team works together with families and patients to provide compassionate care.

Patients may also receive treatment at one of our specialty ICUs:

• Cardiac and thoracic surgery intensive care units that serve patients recovering from surgery to the heart, lungs, esophagus and other organs in the chest
• Surgical trauma intensive care units that provide emergency care for severely injured patients
• Neurosurgical intensive care units that provide care for patients facing brain injuries, stroke or tumors

Virtual Critical Care

Virtual critical care technology allows us to provide 24-hour, real-time monitoring for critically ill patients, connecting the intensive care unit team to a central command center operated by critical care physicians and nurses. Using two-way audio/video communication, our virtual critical care and ICU teams work together to help patients safely leave the ICU as soon as possible.

MedCenter Air

Atrium Health’s MedCenter Air provides fast, reliable emergency and critical care transport services to patients in North Carolina and South Carolina. With our fleet of jets, planes, helicopters and ambulances, our experienced healthcare team offers rapid patient transport and support for emergency responders throughout the region. MedCenter Air operates helicopter bases in Concord, Hickory and Rock Hill, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
