Biography
Dr. Gibbs joined the CMC faculty in 1993 and in the ensuing nine years he served as Medical Director of MedCenter Air and as Residency Program Director from 1999 to 2002. In 2002 Mike was recruited to become Chief of Emergency Medicine at Maine Medical Center in Portland Maine. During his nine year tenure in Maine, Mike helped build a new emergency department, expand a nationally recognized residency program, and grow a successful clinical research program. Mike returned home to Charlotte in October of 2011 as Chair of Emergency Medicine. His academic interests include trauma, airway management, and medical errors. He is nationally recognized as a clinical educator and advocate for patient safety and academic excellence.
