Biography

“My motivation for work is my own children. If my child were sick, I would do anything to find out what was wrong and get them feeling better. I try to put myself in another parent's position and work together as a team to find a solution to their child’s issues. A lot of medicine is about communication, dedication and working together to figure out a solution to a problem.”

Dr. Fleishman is board certified in pediatrics and pediatric gastroenterology.

He is an assistant professor of pediatrics and the physician lead for the Multidisciplinary Cardiac Nasogastric Tube Clinic at Levine Children's Specialty Center Gastroenterology.

Dr. Fleishman has received several awards, including the Young Investigator Award at the ESPGHAN (European Society for Paediatric Gastroenterology Hepatology and Nutrition) Annual Conference and the Professionalism Award for the Levine Children's Residency Program. He was a nominee for the Resident Educator Award at Children's Mercy Hospital.

He specializes in treating inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE), cyclic vomiting syndrome, celiac disease, reflux, constipation, abdominal pain and fatty liver disease.

Dr. Fleishman’s research interests include proton pump inhibitor safety, histamine receptor antagonist safety and biologic efficacy in inflammatory bowel disease.

He is fascinated by disorders of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract and the wide array of conditions he encounters. He feels that no two patients are the same, even if they suffer from the same disease, and enjoys working with each patient’s unique set of issues.

Dr. Fleishman received his medical degree at East Carolina University, completed his residency at Atrium Health Levine Children's Hospital and a fellowship at Children's Mercy Hospital.

Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his wife, 2 children and their dog, Apollo. He loves watching his children play baseball, t-ball and tennis. They also like going to the beach, and he has a passion for marine biology, especially sharks.
