New practice offers pediatric well and sick visit options outside of traditional office hours

CHARLOTTE, N.C., Jan. 8, 2025 Atrium Health Levine Children's is proud to announce the opening of the region's first primary care practice to offer convenient and comprehensive pediatric care after hours and on weekends. The new practice, known as Atrium Health Levine Children’s Pediatric Extended Care, will be open Monday through Friday, 5 - 8 p.m., and weekends, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. to serve the community and is the first of multiple extended care locations Levine Children’s plans to open throughout the greater Charlotte region.

“We have and always will be committed to meeting families where they are, with the best care possible,” said Callie Dobbins, senior vice president of Levine Children’s. “Recognizing many families have roles and responsibilities that can make it hard to get their kids to the doctor during the week, Levine Children's set out to create a first-of-its-kind solution with a practice dedicated to serving families with both sick and well visits during hours convenient for their schedules.”

This innovative approach ensures families have access to high-quality care for their children, even outside traditional office hours. New and existing patients can receive well-child checkups, newborn visits, treatment for illnesses or minor injuries and more, at a time that fits the needs of their family through scheduled in-person and virtual appointments.

The first practice, located at 9625 Northcross Center Court, Suite 201B, Huntersville, NC, 28078, addresses a critical gap in pediatric care access by providing a convenient location to families in Huntersville, Lake Norman and surrounding areas while also helping alleviate the volume at nearby urgent care centers. While any family can schedule an appointment at this location, additional Pediatric Extended Care locations plan to open in and around Charlotte in the near future.

This initiative is yet another way Atrium Health Levine Children’s is delivering accessible, comprehensive and family-centered pediatric care that adapts to the busy schedules of today’s families. Convenient care options outside of traditional primary care offices, including urgent care video visits, eVisits and nurse chat, are still available.
