Atrium Health welcomes advanced practice provider students and offers clinical experiences in a variety of settings. We provide robust, curriculum-based clinical placements for advanced practice providers (APPs), such as nurse practitioners, physician assistants, certified registered nurse anesthetists, clinical nurse specialists and nurse midwives.
The Center for Advanced Practice serves as the centralized liaison for all APP students. Our APP student clinical placement coordinator verifies the eligibility for APP students across more than 900 care locations. We appreciate your interest in an APP clinical rotation with Atrium Health and invite you to apply.
We review applications periodically throughout the year and assess our APP placement opportunities regularly. All applications must be submitted at least 3 months in advance of the rotation start date.
To apply for a rotation at one of our facilities, fill out and submit this form:
Advanced Practice Provider Student Application
If you are a clinical coordinator for a program and have already secured rotations for your students, please complete this APP Student Placement Template and email the spreadsheet to APPStudent@AtriumHealth.org.
In order to be considered for a clinical rotation, there must be an active Clinical Education Affiliation Agreement (CEAA) on file between Atrium Health and your educational institution. There is currently a moratorium on new CEAAs. See our current list of our CEAAs. If you do not see your school listed, we do not have a current CEAA and currently aren't accepting any new CEAAs.
You should submit your application at least three months in advance of the rotation. Failure to submit your application at least three months in advance wil result in a denied acceptance. Submitting a request does not guarantee placement.
If you have any questions, email the APP student clinical placement coordinator. Please do not call our physicians, APPs or any Atrium Health facilities about your application.
Atrium Health is committed to the professional development of our teammates. Teammates who are enrolled in an approved program will be offered priority placement.
Once your rotation is approved and scheduled, you’ll be notified by email with instructions for your rotation. Payment for your clinical rotation is due at least 30 days prior to the beginning of your clinical rotation period.
When you are approved, you’re required to:
Once all the documentation and paperwork have been received and approved by the APP Student Clinical Placement Coordinator, you will be issued an Atrium Health student badge the Friday before your start date. Specific directions on how to receive your badge will be sent in an email from the APP Student Placement Coordinator. You must have the student badge before beginning your rotation.
For additional information, you may also contact the APP student clinical placement coordinator.
You can find information about the student placement application here. Please read the information on this page before beginning your application.
If you don’t have a middle name, choose N/A. To submit your application, you must complete all the fields marked with a red asterisk.
If you have more than one request, you must submit a form for each request.
For the purposes of this application, you will only list one preceptor. You may work with multiple preceptors; however, the preceptor fee will be designated to the preceptor listed on your application.
Please see line 24 on the application: Do you have a secured rotation? If the answer is yes, please list:
Complete the APP Student Placement Template spreadsheet available on the student placement application page and email the spreadsheet to APPStudent@AtriumHealth.org.
Please only submit rotations that are between three and four months ahead.
Preceptors will receive payment at the end of the quarter following their last day of the rotation.
No, the student cannot pay the preceptor fee. The clinical education affiliation agreement is between the APP program and Atrium Health, not the student and Atrium Health. If the school does not agree to pay the preceptor fee, you will be unable to complete a rotation at any Atrium Health practice or facility.
Currently, Atrium Health has a moratorium on entering any new CEAAs. If there is not an existing active CEAA, you will be unable to complete a rotation at any Atrium Health practice or facility. Click here for our current list of CEAAs.
