We developed Carolinas Stroke Network to coordinate and enhance the delivery of rapid, industry-leading stroke diagnosis and treatment across Atrium Health’s network of hospitals. The result: standardized, life-saving stroke treatment for your patients.
Participating hospitals have 24/7 access to stroke experts who help determine the most appropriate treatment and coordinate rapid transfer if more advanced stroke care is needed.
Carolinas Stroke Network Protocols and Features
- Collaboration with a regional referral neurologist for patient assessment, including instant sharing of brain-scanning results through the patient’s electronic medical record
- Treatment delivery, including possible tPA delivery, based on test results and observation
- Access to emergency neuro-interventional care, including advanced catheter-based treatment
- Rapid transport to comprehensive stroke centers Carolinas Medical Center or Atrium Health Cabarrus. Our comprehensive stroke centers hold Primary Stroke Center designations from The Joint Commission and have received national awards for exemplary performance from the American Stroke Association.
