Being a preteen or young adult can be complicated. There are physical, emotional, mental and social changes to navigate – plus a lot of pressure, especially today. Since 1992, Atrium Health Levine Children’s doctors have partnered with Teen Health Connection, a Charlotte-based medical practice, to provide comprehensive adolescent medical and mental healthcare.

Adolescent medicine, or teen health, is a branch of care that specializes in the overall health and wellness of teens and young adults. Our adolescent medicine specialists guide teens through life’s changes in a healthy way. We do this by helping them focus on being their best, healthiest selves – in a private, judgement-free environment.

Why choose adolescent medicine at Levine Children’s?

  • Teen and family-focused. Adolescents face unique health issues. Our doctors and healthcare providers are specially trained in treating those issues, in a setting that’s all about teens and their families.
  • Outpatient therapy for mental health. Teen health is more than primary care. We have licensed mental health therapists, who provide individual and family therapy for a variety of issues. We also offer free mental health phone consultations, so families can call and talk to an expert about their concerns before visits.
  • Subspecialty care. Sometimes unique health needs require extra care. Our clinic provides subspecialty care with consultations for reproductive and sexual health, psychiatric treatment for depression and anxiety, and transgender healthcare. We also connect your family to all the specialists your teen might need at Atrium Health Levine Children’s, including endocrinologists for diabetes, dermatologists for advanced skincare and pulmonologists for severe asthma.
  • Care into adulthood. Adolescent medicine focuses on individuals as young as 11, helping them stay healthy as they navigate middle school, high school, college and early adulthood (up to 25).
