Biography

“Being able to educate families on their child's condition and help improve their lives long-term through education and advocacy is an amazing experience.”

Dr. Brantley is board certified in pediatrics, with a special interest in newborn medicine and medical education. She is assistant professor of pediatrics and a pediatric hospitalist at Atrium Health Levine Children's Hospital. She is co-clerkship director of pediatrics at Wake Forest School of Medicine. Dr. Brantley serves on the following committees at Atrium Health: Pediatric Education Committee, Academic Half-Day Committee, Social and Wellness Committee, REAL Committee, and the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Undergraduate Medical Education Subcommittee.

She was awarded the Resident Teaching Award and Medical Student Teaching Award in Pediatrics. She was inducted into the UNC School of Medicine Academy of Educators. Dr. Brantley has served as president of the Charlotte Pediatric Society. She has also served as a member of the North Carolina Pediatric Society and a co-leader of the Pediatric Hospital Medicine Committee on Student Education.

She has been involved with research involving quality improvement work, including standardizing phototherapy in the newborn nursery and implementation of the I-PASS project on pediatric floors. She has also participated in educational research related to medical student transition curriculum.

She received her medical degree at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill and completed a residency and chief residency at Levine Children’s Hospital.

Outside of work, Dr. Brantley enjoys spending time with her husband, their yellow lab and their extended families. She loves to cook and try new restaurants. She and her husband are avid Clemson Tigers and Carolina Panthers fans.
