Atrium Health's Advanced Practice Provider Fellowship in Pediatric Neurosciences is a 12-month program designed to prepare nurse practitioners and physician assistants for a successful career caring for children with neurological and developmental conditions. Through clinical experiences in developmental pediatrics and pediatric neurology, mentorship, and specialized didactic education, fellows develop the knowledge, clinical judgment, and confidence needed to excel in pediatric neurosciences.

  • Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)
  • Behavioral and learning disorders
  • Developmental delay and intellectual disability
  • Epilepsy and seizure disorders
  • Fetal alcohol spectrum disorders

  • Movement disorders
  • Neurogenetic conditions
  • Neuromuscular disorders

Fellowship Experience

With instruction from dedicated physician and APP faculty, fellows will:

  • Develop expertise in the evaluation and management of pediatric neurological and developmental conditions.
  • Participate in specialty-specific didactics, case conferences, and multidisciplinary educational experiences.
  • Collaborate with physicians, APPs, psychologists, therapists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to provide family-centered care.
  • Engage in scholarly and quality improvement initiatives that advance patient care and clinical practice.

Upon completion of the fellowship, graduates will be prepared to provide evidence-based care for children with neurological and developmental conditions and serve as integral members of multidisciplinary pediatric neurodevelopmental teams.
