Carolinas Medical Center (CMC) and the University of North Carolina at Charlotte (UNC Charlotte) offer a collaborative program through which registered nurses with a baccalaureate degree in nursing have the opportunity to obtain the skills necessary to begin practice as a professional nurse anesthetist. Students completing this program graduate with a Doctorate of Nursing Practice and a Certificate in Nurse Anesthesia and are eligible to sit for the National Board of Certification and Recertification’s (NBCRNA) National Certification Examination for Nurse Anesthetists. Successful completion of the exam qualifies the graduate to use the title of Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA).
