Breastfeeding your infant has many benefits, and help is here if you need it. Atrium Health Levine Children's Charlotte Pediatrics offers comprehensive lactation services for our existing patients and moms. If you’re a Atrium Health Levine Children's Charlotte Pediatrics family, you can see any of our lactation consultants below at their practice. Lia Benton, IBCLC, MAT

Lia Benton, IBCLC, MAT, first joined Atrium Health Levine Children's Charlotte Pediatrics in September 2008 and rejoined the practice in September 2019 after caring for family. She is available by appointment at the Steele Creek office. Board certified in lactation, Lia also holds a masters degree in teaching.

Empowering women and families to care for their child is Lia’s chief interest. Clinical interests include tongue tie, low milk supply and late pre-term babies.

Married and the mother of three college students, Lia enjoys reading, writing and traveling.



Penelope Bridgeman, IBCLC

Penelope Bridgeman, IBCLC is board certified in lactation and is available by appointment at the Matthews office. She earned her degree from North Carolina State University and has been caring for mothers and babies for over 10 years. Penelope finds great satisfaction in helping moms achieve their individual breastfeeding goals and has clinical interests in breastfeeding education, management of low milk supply and nursing assistance for premature infants.

Outside of work, Penelope enjoys spending time with her family, playing the piano, being outdoors and volunteering.



Dana Patti, IBCLC,

Dana Patti, IBCLC is board certified in lactation and has been practicing for more than 10 years. She is available by appointment at the SouthPark office. Her clinical interests are tethered oral tissue (tongue tie) and managing preterm infants. Dana’s mission is to help moms achieve their breastfeeding goals on their terms. Dana loves being able to teach moms tips and solutions for their breastfeeding challenges. She finds it rewarding to help a baby have a successful feed.

In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her daughter and their two dogs. She loves to read and collect inspiring quotes.
