Biography
“I love providing patient care through bedside care, telemedicine, team-based care and newer tools and processes we have in health care today. It is a privilege and honor to be there for people when they are most in need and to help families make sense of a loved one's illness.”
Dr. Jaspal Singh is board certified in internal medicine, pulmonary disease, sleep medicine, critical care medicine and interventional pulmonology. He is skilled in mechanical ventilation and specializes in the evaluation of lung nodules, lung cancer, pleural effusions and obstructive sleep apnea.
Dr. Singh serves as the medical director for Critical Care Practice and Education at the Atrium Health Jan & Ed Brown Center for Pulmonary Medicine and is chair of the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee at Atrium Health’s Adult Medical Services & Specialties. He enjoys treating patients at various stages of their diseases while integrating a wide array of diagnostic and therapeutic innovations in medicine, including robotically assisted bronchoscopies.
He has been named a Top Doctor by Charlotte magazine for multiple years and has served with distinction for multiple professional societies, such as the American College of Chest Physicians, the American Thoracic Society, the Society of Critical Care Medicine and others.
In addition to taking care of patients, Dr. Singh’s daily work also includes teaching, writing, speaking and serving in various capacities and leadership roles among several national societies that advance patient care.
His clinical and research expertise spans an array of critical care and thoracic oncology but is centered on understanding how health care systems adapt to doctor shortages. His work has led to incorporating innovation, technology and team-based care in many ways within and outside of Atrium Health.
Dr. Singh received his medical degree at the University of Illinois. He completed residency at the University of Rochester and a fellowship at Duke University.
Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his wife and 3 children. He likes traveling, teaching in the local Sikh religious school and watching his favorite sports teams.
