Keeping your child healthy is your top priority, but it’s not always easy to interrupt the day for a doctor’s visit. With Atrium Health Levine Children’s School-Based Virtual Care, your child can get care for minor conditions – without either of you leaving school, work or other daily activities.
Available at select schools and community locations in Charlotte and surrounding areas, it’s the only program of its kind in the region. And the best part? All virtual visits are performed by providers from Atrium Health Levine Children’s. In addition to being the region’s most preferred primary care provider, Atrium Health Levine Children’s is home to nationally recognized pediatric specialty care and the region’s only U.S. News & World Report-awarded children’s hospital.

Your child can request a video visit by telling a leader on-site – like a school nurse – when they aren’t feeling well.
Once a visit has been requested, an Atrium Health medical professional will arrive to start the medical evaluation. You’ll be contacted for consent and invited to join by video or phone call.
Appointments are held in a private, secure space within the School-Based Virtual Care location.
The medical professional connects your child by video to an Atrium Health Levine Children’s provider. The provider uses special technology, called digital diagnostic technology, to perform a virtual examination. The exam includes listening to your child’s heart and lungs and looking at their ears and throat.
At the end of the visit, the provider delivers a diagnosis and treatment plan. If needed, lab testing can be completed at the School-Based Virtual Care location and prescriptions can be sent to your preferred pharmacy. With your permission, we can send notes from your child’s visit to their primary care doctor. If they don’t have a doctor, we can help you find one.
If the condition is minor and not contagious, you and your child can get back to school, work and your daily activities.

School-Based Virtual Care isn’t just for students. If you work at a participating school or community location, you can get convenient, high-quality care, too!
Once you request a visit, a health care provider will examine you with special technology, give you a diagnosis and send in prescriptions if needed – all over video. They’ll also send a visit summary to your primary care provider to keep them in the loop. If your condition is minor and not contagious, you can back to your workday, with minimal interruption.
To request a visit, contact your school representative Monday through Friday.
