At Atrium Health’s Neurosciences Institute, our focus on quality helps our award-winning teams achieve standard-setting outcomes. We’re one of the largest neurosciences programs in the country and have the region’s only Level I trauma center. Our distinguished subspecialty programs feature:

  • First and only program in the nation to receive The Joint Commission Disease-Specific Care Certification in Parkinson’s disease, ALS and multiple sclerosis (MS)
  • Two hospitals certified by The Joint Commission as Primary Stroke Centers and by AHA/ASA as Gold Plus Award winners
  • Level IV and Level III Specialized Epilepsy Centers designated by the National Association of Epilepsy Centers
  • Only designated ALS-MDA Center in North and South Carolina

Covering the Continuum of Neurological Care

By providing care across the entire continuum, we’re able to support patients throughout the recovery process. At Carolinas Rehabilitation, part of Atrium Health and the largest rehabilitation practice in the Southeast, we help patients recover from all kinds of neurological conditions. Highlights of our program include:

  • RENEW Carolinas, an innovative neurowellness program for Parkinson’s disease that’s the first of its kind in the nation
  • Accreditation by CARF (Commission on the Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities) for all 17 of our programs – the most of any rehabilitation center in the region
  • Designation as a Patient Safety Organization – one of the first organizations nationwide to be so named by the Agency for Healthcare Research Quality
  • Recognition as a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Model System follow-up site
