The didactic component of this residency program includes:

  • Weekly patient care conferences that review treatment planning of dental cases in medically complex population (e.g.: oncology, cardiac surgery, transplant clearance patients)
  • Monthly Oral Medicine patient care conferences reviewing select oral medicine cases (e.g.: oral lesions, oral mucosal disorders, salivary gland disorders, orofacial pain)
  • Weekly Oral Medicine literature review seminars
  • Preparation for American Board of Oral Medicine board examination (winterspring)
  • A practical course on evidencebased dentistry, and skills interpreting the literature and research design (monthly)

  • Oral radiology (principles, techniques and interpretation)
  • Oral manifestations of systemic disease

  • Autoimmune disorders to include Sjogren’s Syndrome
  • Management of medically compromised patients

  • Salivary gland dysfunction and pathology
