Why CMC: I had the opportunity to work on a research project with several of the surgeons at CMC during my undergrad summers and they left a lasting impression on me. Everyone was incredibly kind and eager to help. The residents were strong leaders and clearly saw each other as family, from interns to chiefs. While rotating in Charlotte as a fourth year medical student I was impressed by the operative volume and high level of autonomy given to the residents by attendings. The location is also stellar; Charlotte is a great city with plenty to do. I can’t think of any better place to be for residency!

Why CMC?: When looking for a residency I knew I wanted a program that had a culture of operating early, with strong resident autonomy, and exposure to a wide variety of surgical pathology. While CMC checked all those boxes for me, what sold me was the great interactions between the residents and faculty during my interview day and dinner. This is a truly collegial program that strongly invests in their residents' education and growth, and gives them an immense amount of support from all levels. I could not imagine training anywhere else.
