Why the CMC PGY1 program in the setting of Ambulatory Specialty Clinics & Specialty Pharmacy: When seeking a PGY1 residency program, I was drawn to opportunities that would expose me to complex disease states, innovative therapies, and specialized patient populations. The PGY1 Specialty Pharmacy Residency stood out because of its unique combination of specialty experiences and high-touch patient care. I was excited by the chance to learn about innovative therapies, develop expertise in complex disease state management, and build meaningful relationships with patients over time. Specialty pharmacy sits at the intersection of clinical care, patient advocacy, and medication access, making it a field where pharmacists can have a significant impact on both outcomes and quality of life. The opportunity to gain exposure to neurology and other specialty areas through ambulatory care experiences, while also maintaining exposure to inpatient practice, made this program a particularly good fit for my interests.
