Best thing about Charlotte: The warm climate where we can still experience seasons, big city amenities with pro sports and plenty of great food options, and numberous outdoor activies all within a short drive of the city.
Interests outside of the hospital: Outdoor activities, including skiing and basketball.

Best thing about Charlotte: Its home! Charlotte has a little bit of everything from professional sports (Go Panthers!) and plenty of restaurants and breweries to easy access to any outdoor activity. It has something for everyone and is only going to continue to get better. To top it all off, the people are pretty awesome here too.
Interests outside of the hospital: Yoga, painting, horseback riding, football, anything outdoors, catching up with friends, and traveling when I get the chance.

Best thing about Charlotte: Awesome livability, in particular, affordability, despite being a very populous city.
Interests outside of the hospital: Spending time with my fiancée and our two boys; riding dirt bikes and exploring trails; working out.

Fellowship Match:  Shoulder/Elbow, Cleveland Clinic  
Best thing about Charlotte: Super comfortable place to live on a resident salary. Big city amenities, small city feel and great system of parks/greenways that make getting outside/exercising very convenient.
Interests outside the hospital: Hiking, rock-climbing, horseback riding, travel.

Fellowship Match:  Spine, Texas Back Institute
Best thing about Charlotte: I have yet to have bad food at any place in Charlotte (including the hospital cafeteria)- so the consistently great food and diverse selection is a big win for the city in my mind. Also, I love the city skyline and how there are amazing views of it from multiple different neighborhoods around the hospital.
Interests outside of the hospital: Basketball, reading, working on my golf swing, and finding the best wheat beers & Tripel selection in the city

Nainisha Chintalapudi, MD

Medical school: New York Medical College
Career interest: Trauma or Pediatrics
Best thing about Charlotte: There is a great mix of stuff to do both within Charlotte and in the surrounding area from bars and restaurants to hikes and other outdoor activities. After living in NYC, the cost of living here was also a huge plus.
Interests outside the hospital: Amateur mixologist, plant mom, art (looking at other people’s and making my own), hiking, running on the greenway, journalism/news podcasts.

Best thing about Charlotte: Outdoor activities, food scene, proximity to mountains and beach, and a big airport to travel around!
Interests outside of the hospital: cooking, traveling, hanging with friends/family. All things active: running, teaching yoga & pilates, outdoor hikes!

 


Katherine Drexelius, MD

Career interest:Spine
Best thing about Charlotte: US National Whitewater Center!! So much to do there - stand-up paddleboarding, kayaking, running, biking and live music in the summer. A must-visit!
Interests outside of the hospital: Spending time outside with my corgi, friends, and fiancé, working out, Gonzaga basketball, jalapeño margaritas, listening to Ted Radio Hour podcasts

Best thing about Charlotte: It is such a kid and family friendly place. We are less than 15-20 minutes from everything, and the traffic is negligible. It is impossible for a kid to be bored in this city.
Interests outside the hospital: Chasing my kids around.

Best thing about Charlotte: Great local breweries, mild climate, beautiful place to hike and explore in a family friendly environment.
Interests outside of the hospital: Spending time with my wife, watching my Buckeyes and all things college football, staying active and playing golf as much as possible.

Career interest: Undecided - considering Hand, Pediatrics, Sports and Foot & Ankle
Best thing about Charlotte: I love spending time outside and Charlotte has great options for getting outdoors like the Whitewater Center and the Little Sugar Creek Greenway. The restaurant/brewery scene is also amazing with so many great places to try.
Interests outside of the hospital: I love lifting weights, running, walking my two Australian Shepherds and spending time with family and friends.

Best thing about Charlotte: Charlotte is a very family and dog-friendly city that offers affordable living and beautiful outdoors all while being easily accessible for family and friends.
Interests outside of the hospital: Spending time with my wife and Bernedoodle, grilling, following Penn State and Philly sports and finding the best food Charlotte has to offer.

Career interest: Can’t say enough great things about Charlotte. Running on the light rail and little sugar creek greenway, live music at the Whitewater Center, fun outdoor breweries, and the proximity to the beach and mountains.

Interests outside of the hospital: Functional fitness, playing tennis and reading historical fiction
