 Emmanuella Mensah, MD
4th Year Chief Resident 2025-2026
Service. Advocacy. Teaching. These are the values that reflect the essence of who I am and what I intend to carry forward as a Family Physician. My aim is to serve my patients well by providing the best care in the clinic as well as advocating for them outside of the clinic. Through compassion and humility, I hope to walk alongside my patients and help them navigate their own understanding of health. For me, my role as a physician is not to simply tell my patients what to do but I like to believe my patients are the driver of the car and I am holding the map as we work together to reach our destination. Overall, my goal is to stay true to my core values as I strive to be a trusted voice in the community.

It is my promise to treat my patients as I would want my loved ones to be treated. The Hippocratic Oath that I swore by stated many things but the statement most important to me was, I will remember that there is art to medicine as well as science, and that warmth, sympathy and understanding may outweigh the surgeon's knife or the chemist's drug.

 Carrie Sartor, MD

Jr. Faculty, Department of Family Medicine
Dr. Carrie Sartor attended the College of William and Mary for her undergraduate studies, majoring in biology. She attended medical school at Eastern Virgina Medical School. She completed residency at CMC Family Medicine before starting her term as PGY-4 Chief Resident and Junior Faculty Fellow. She is board certified in Family Medicine. She works at a FQHC, called Health Works, in Leesburg, VA.
Her areas of interest include academic medicine, and geriatrics. Outside of work, she enjoys dance-based fitness classes like Zumba and Mixed Fit, and spending time with her 7-month-old son.

 Simeng Miao, MD

Jr. Faculty, Department of Family Medicine
Dr. Simeng Miao attended Vanderbilt University for her undergraduate studies, majoring in biomedical engineering, and attended medical school at The Ohio State University. She completed residency at CMC Family Medicine before starting her term as PGY-4 Chief Resident and Junior Faculty Fellow. She is board certified in Family Medicine and works as a physician at Elizabeth Family Medicine.
Her areas of interests include academic medicine, and preventative care. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with friends, family and exploring Charlotte.

 Matthew Findlay, MD
4th Year Chief Resident 2021-2022
Jr. Faculty, Department of Family Medicine
Dr. Matthew Findlay attended Cornell University for his undergraduate studies, majoring in mathematics, and attended medical school at New York Medical College. He then moved south in search of warmer climes and completed residency at CMC Family Medicine before starting his term as PGY-4 Chief Resident and Junior Faculty Fellow. He is Board Certified in Family Medicine and works as an attending physician at Elizabeth Family Medicine, in addition to his duties as Chief Resident and Fellow.
He has special interests in medical education, clinical and diagnostic reasoning, diabetes management, the treatment of chronic pain, and addiction medicine. He is currently performing a quality improvement project involving medication assisted treatment (MAT). Outside his work, he spends his time being active with his church, pursuing a wide range of outdoor activities, and spending time with his wife and daughter.
