At Carolinas Medical Center Family Medicine, our residents, PGY4 chief, and alumni are at the heart of everything we do. They come from diverse backgrounds, bring unique perspectives, and share a common commitment to providing compassionate, full-spectrum care.
Our graduates are well-prepared to pursue diverse career paths across the full spectrum of family medicine. Alumni have gone on to careers in outpatient primary care, academic medicine, hospital medicine, and leadership roles. Many also pursue fellowship training in areas such as sports medicine, obstetrics, addiction medicine, geriatrics, pain management, obesity medicine, and more.

"Two of my top priorities when choosing a residency program were finding a culturally diverse environment — both among providers and patients — and joining a program that would truly challenge me. This program has exceeded both expectations.
As part of the 2% of Latina physicians in the U.S., I’ve had the privilege of providing comprehensive, wraparound care to the Hispanic community within our own clinic. From prenatal care and preventive visits to OMT and beyond, I’ve been able to build meaningful relationships with patients while caring for them across different stages of life.
I also recognized the value of training in a rigorous program like this one. With dedicated adult and pediatric inpatient services, I’ve developed a stronger ability to see the full clinical picture and appropriately triage and manage patients in the outpatient setting. Caring for our own clinic patients while they are admitted to our inpatient service has given me a level of continuity of care I never could have imagined as a medical student.
