The Thoracic Surgery fellowship is a two-year program with the admission of 1 fellow per year.

All applicants must have completed a general surgery program approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). Applications are only accepted through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). Our program participates in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP).

Application Materials

  • ERAS application
  • Curriculum vitae
  • USMLE scores (Step 1, 2 and 3)
  • ABSITE scores
  • Personal Statement
  • Three letters of recommendations from physicians who supervised you in clinical settings, one of which must be from a program director/department chair physician

Additional Criteria

  • Eligibility for and maintenance of medical licensure in the state of North Carolina
  • Previous completion of a visiting rotation before consideration
