Why CMC?  When applying for residency, I was immediately drawn to CMC for so many reasons. I definitely appreciated the high volume and acuity that the program offers, which made me confident that I would receive the high caliber of training that will prepare me for whatever path I choose after residency. Having attended college right outside of Charlotte, I’ve always had a strong desire to return to the area for all the amazing things the city has to offer. Getting to know the residents and faculty during the interview process affirmed that CMC was where I wanted to be. The CMC culture is incredible: everyone in the program is so genuinely supportive of each other, and they have so much fun together! I was thrilled to see CMC when I opened my envelope on Match Day, and I immediately felt that culture of support with all the encouraging and welcoming messages I received from residents and faculty. I’m so excited to be here at CMC!

Why CMC? When applying for residency, I knew I wanted to train at a program where they create strong, excellent generalists. CMC offers high acuity and high volume where I can treat a diverse patient population and graduate as a highly qualified physician. In addition to the strong training CMC offers, I really fell in love with the program at the social and on interview day. Watching the residents interact, it was so clear they all truly cared for one another. The entire experience gave an insight into the warmth and support that is all encompassing here. I can’t wait to live in Charlotte and officially join the CMC family!

Why CMC? I grew up in Charlotte, NC, and my first experience in medicine was volunteering at CMC in high school. Therefore, when I found out I matched at CMC for residency, I was ecstatic. It felt like a true full-circle moment. CMC represents everything I was looking for in a residency program: high volume and acuity in a large city, strong surgical training, meaningful opportunities in medical education, and a supportive, collaborative working environment—along with the added bonus of being close to family. From the virtual open house to the pre-interview social and interview, all the residents and faculty were so welcoming and genuine. It quickly became clear that this was the place where I could see myself thriving. I’m incredibly excited to be joining the CMC family, where I know I will be challenged and shaped into a skilled and compassionate OBGYN while caring for patients in the city I call home.

Why CMC? CMC felt like the perfect fit for me for so many reasons! I rotated here during my fourth year of medical school, and I truly could not have imagined a better month. Every resident and attending I worked with made me feel like a valued part of the team, and I was blown away by the strength of the surgical training and the exposure to underserved communities. I also observed how the program debriefs after difficult patient outcomes, which highlighted the supportive, collaborative environment I was looking for in a residency program. I knew this was a place where I could grow into a competent surgeon and compassionate physician. My interview day only solidified my enthusiasm, and Charlotte was the cherry on top!

Why CMC? During my Benign GYN away rotation as a fourth-year medical student, the residents and attendings made me feel so welcome, and I truly felt like a valued member of the team. When I left, I found myself missing rounds, clinic, teaching sessions with the attendings, and the OR (especially the placenta accreta cases), so I knew I wanted to be back for residency. As I went through interviews, I knew I was looking for a program with high-volume, high-acuity obstetric and gynecologic training, and CMC really stood out in that regard. I also wanted to be at a program that valued reproductive justice and autonomy as much as I did, and it was evident that CMC did. The range of subspecialty exposure was another big draw, especially since I’m keeping the door open for fellowship. On top of all of that, Charlotte is a great city, and I have family nearby, so I couldn't be happier!

Why CMC? As I built my list of OB/Gyn residency programs, I prioritized institutions with high surgical volume, a diverse patient population, and a genuinely supportive culture. I also wanted to train at a program that develops strong generalists while offering robust opportunities for those interested in fellowship. CMC stood out for its comprehensive training and particularly for its strong emphasis on gynecologic oncology. During the pre-interview social and interview day, the close-knit relationships among residents and faculty were immediately apparent. This sense of camaraderie carried through every interaction I had and made a lasting impression. I left my interview feeling that CMC not only met all of my professional goals but also aligned with the intangible qualities I value most in a training environment. I could truly see myself as part of this collegial and supportive community. I feel incredibly grateful for the opportunity to train at CMC and am excited to get started!

Why CMC? CMC was a program that was highly recommended by my mentors during the application process. I was looking for a program that would challenge me to become an excellent surgeon and a well-rounded physician, while also providing strong mentorship and support if I decide to pursue fellowship.

During interview day, I was so encouraged by how warm and welcoming everyone was! Faculty and residents alike were incredibly kind and seemed genuinely interested in getting to know me. I could tell the camaraderie among the residents was genuine. Everyone seemed to truly love working together and celebrating each other's successes, and that was exactly the kind of culture I was hoping to find! Along with the bonus of being in beautiful Charlotte and having family nearby, CMC feels like the perfect fit for me!
