Atrium Health’s offers a Tobacco Cessation Program, an evidence based community program that teaches you coping strategies and other techniques, such as behvaior changes, and mindfulness, to slowly reduce your nicotine intake.

Quitting smoking cuts your risk of having a heart attack, heart failure and arrhythmias. Quitting also cuts your risk of getting lung cancer, diabetes and asthma.

Former smokers who kick the habit for at least 10 years have almost the same life expectancy as those who have never smoked.

The  program includes three - four, 90-minute  group sessions that are free. (Individual sessions has a small $75 fee) for three-four sessions. All sessions are with a Certified Tobacco Treatment Specialist.
